Youth Advocates Freedom of Expressions for the Udta Punjab Movie
New Delhi: A Delhi based YouTube Channel Mute Voices went out on the street to ask youth about the confrontation of Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC) and Udta Punjab. The Youth of Delhi demands the release of movie without the cuts. The Video #WeStandWithUdtaPunjab, showcase the opinions of Sardars and Punjabi too. CBFC VS Udta Punjab
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), popularly known has Censor board had asked for 91 cuts in the Movie. The team of Udta Punjab took the matter of certification and censorship into the Mumbai High Court. During the hearing of case, High Court pointed out that CBFC is meant to certify films, not to censor them. The Court will roll out the order on 13th June. The movie is scheduled to release on 17th June.
Censor Board attempted to impose ban on the Movie. The bench of Justice SC Dharmadhikari and Shalini Phansalkar Joshi said, “If the reference of Punjab will have to be deleted from each dialogue and scene of the movie then the core of the film will be lost.”
Anurag Kashyap, the co-producer of the movie had hit back the decision of CBFC over the censorship of movie. He gained quick support from the populace. The CBFC chief Pahalaj Nihalani alleged that the Aam Adami Party had funded the movie. The social media platforms were flooded with the trolls of him on Wednesday. The politicization of the case has already started. The Chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has extended their support to the movie. The movie revolves around the drug problem in the Punjab. It stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh. The movie is directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
